Core Values

  1. Do No Harm -Research shows that those who start an exercise program also have exercise-related injuries. For a lot of people, it’s a continuous cycle of one step forward two steps back. Injuries can be for numerous reasons but cause frustration in the individual. It’s hard enough to get the momentum started to restore your body only to have adversity show up. The goal is to find any red flags before beginning an exercise program. The #1 risk for an injury is a previous injury! My programs provide safe periodized workouts that keep joints healthy while building resiliency against future injuries.

  2. Assess Don’t Guess - If you're guessing, you're not assessing. Before and during my programs, we must identify any weak links or red flags that may lead to injury or cause movement dysfunction. I use the "Functional Movement Screen" on all clients before starting any program. This screen gives you a score of your overall movement health in 7 different patterns and an overview of your joint mobility and stability. Gray Cook, the co-founder of the FMS, likes to say, "your movement quality is your insurance policy." This doesn't mean you cannot train hard because of risk. When movement issues are identified, I can provide the appropriate regressions or progressions to keep you safe and achieve a great workout at the same time. If you cannot do tomorrow's workout because of today's, your program will fail!

  3. Lead with compassion - I believe a trainer should challenge and push clients but always with compassion. Unfortunately, I see too many trainers that make the session or workout program about themselves and not the client. Training should always be about the client, not the trainer. A “Client Focused” program opens up dialog and trust between the coach and client.

  4. Show Up - The simple act of showing up day after day is the key to success. Unfortunately, instant gratification does not exist in the journey of fitness, but just like in finance, compound interest does start to build over time. The stock market will have great days over your lifetime, but it will be the accumulation of moderate days that make the difference. So always keep investing in yourself by showing up!

  5. Have Fun - Life is stressful enough; exercise shouldn't be! The goal is to make training the best part of your day. Sadly, most people view it as the worse part of their day. While it does cause you to get out of your comfort zone, it doesn't mean workout until you throw up or be so sore it's hard to get out of bed in the morning. Instead, exercise should give you mentally and physically back as much as you put in.
